Background and needs

L’Oréal Foresight, the division within l’Oréal Research & Innovation (R&I) dedicated to exploring and anticipating long term trends in the cosmetics sector, mandated RaiseLab to conduct company ratings on four startups (based in Germany, Italy, Japan and the US), to help them evaluate the eligibility of these partners to co-develop dynamic makeup solutions.

Actions and deliverables

Before committing significant resources to a partnership, the group relies on our evaluation report to:

• Ensure the evaluated companies industrial production capabilities and financial stability.
• Assess the skills and resilience of each team and confirm the companyies ability to successfully execute a co-development project with the group.
• Beyond the ratings, RaiseLab also coordinated technical discussions and compared the four different technologies to help the decision making process

RaiseLab leverages its proprietary scoring methodology, proven on more than 4,000 startups.

Results

The mission carried out enabled l’Oréal to:

• Get insights on the four companies on multiple aspects: financial, operational, technological
• Choose the most eligible partner based on RaiseLab’s rating and assessment
• Have an extensive reports on each company as well as a strategic comparison report on the 4 startups, for internal sharing and reporting to management
